This essential oil of cultivated celery, Apium graveolens, from India is obtained by complete steam distillation from the seeds of the plant, resulting from conventional cultivation. It is part of the botanical family of Apiaceae. Celery is a biennial herbaceous plant cultivated as a vegetable plant for its leaves and root consumed as a vegetable. It measures 50 to 100 cm. The flower stalk develops from the heart of the plant, the small white flowers are in umbels and the seeds are triangular and streaked, light in color, very fragrant. It is found in humid places, in a slightly hot climate. Its smell is spicy, very persistent. Its color is pale yellow and its texture is fluid. Celery seed essential oil has anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties, thus helping circulatory disorders.
