The essential oil of this seaside plant native to Greece has decongestant and diuretic properties.

More information

Appelé indifféremment Criste marine, Perce-pierre, Criste-marine, fenouil marin, criste de mer, rock samphire (anglais), c'est une Apiacée (risque potentiel d'allergies donc faire absolument un test avant une utilisation).

La Criste marine est une plante vivace halophile qui colonise les falaises et les rochers du littoral atlantique et méditerranéen.

Outre sa résistance au sel, elle est également très résistante à la sécheresse.

Elle fleurit en Été au plus fort de la chaleur méditerranéenne.

 

Plante ligneuse à sa base dont les feuilles charnues très odorantes à la friction sont divisées en segments allongés, fleurs jaune verdâtre groupées en ombelles de dix à vingt rayons.

 

Seules les parties aériennes sont utilisées.

Autour de la Méditerranée d'où elle est originaire, elle est aussi utilisée comme condiment alimentaire (préparée au vinaigre blanc comme les cornichons) avec une saveur proche du fenouil (une autre Apiacée) ou en salade comme du pourpier, sa saveur est iodée.

 

Maintenant, on trouve cette plante jusque sur les bords de la Baltique et de l'Atlantique Nord (Norvège) alors qu'elle n'apparaissait pas au Nord de la Belgique il y a encore quelques années.

 

L'huile essentielle est utilisée traditionnellement comme draineur, en applications locales dans les cellulites, dépurative, raffermissante en cosmétologie.

  • Monoterpènes : gamma-terpinène 40-45 %, béta-phellandrène 10-15 %, para-cymène, sabinène, alpha-pinène, alpha-phellandrène, alpha-terpinène, myrcène, limonène, terpinolène
  • Monoterpénols : terpinène-4-ol, alpha-terpinéol
  • Ethers : dillapiole, thymol-méthyl éther
