Do not use pure essential oils. Essential oils are diluted in a vegetable oil when applied to the skin. Carry out a skin tolerance test in the crook of your elbow and wait 48 hours before using the oil on the skin. Do not use the essential oil if you notice a reaction such as redness, itching or stinging.

The cocoa tree is a small tree native to Central and Equatorial America.

The fruits (the pods) are formed directly on the trunk and the large branches.

These are fruits that cannot open on their own, they must rot to release their precious seeds or be opened by hand by cocoa farmers.

The walls of the fruits are thick and yellow when ripe, the fruit contains 20 to 40 seeds.

The seeds, when harvested, are coated with a whitish mucus, they are acidulous, odorless and a little bitter.

To produce the cocoa that will be used to make chocolate, the seeds must be fermented for a few days and then dried in the shelter of the sun and the rain.

Then will follow a long process of transformation (roasting, conching, etc etc) to arrive at making delicious chocolate.

To make cocoa butter, the process is simpler but just as delicate.

There too, the cocoa beans (the seeds) are fermented and dried, then they are broken and the kernel is extracted from the seeds which will be slightly heated to be sterilized, then roasted and ground to obtain a liquid cocoa paste.

The fat is extracted from the cocoa mass by a high pressure process (up to 550 kg/cm2).

The butter is then filtered to remove the last solid elements of the cocoa.

The seed contains between 54 and 58% fat on average.
