More information

The white magnolia goes by several vernacular names: white champaca, white sandalwood, or white jade orchid, as well as several Latin scientific names: Michelia x alba, Magnolia alba, Magnolia x alba.

Michelia x alba belongs to the Magnoliaceae family, likely one of the oldest plant families, dating back to the time of dinosaurs over 65 million years ago.

It comprises two genera: Magnolias and Liriodendrons (Tulip trees).

Asian cultures, which have explored the properties of magnolia bark for centuries, even millennia, incorporate small amounts of this ingredient into various medicinal concoctions aimed at treating a multitude of health issues.

The origins of some of these medicinal concoctions, still widely used today, date back to the early centuries of our era.

In the context of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Kempo medicine in Japan, magnolia bark and floral buds are common components of many medicinal preparations with varied applications.

Magnolia absolute can be used to alleviate symptoms related to menopause, as well as to combat "plum pit qi syndrome," characterized by a sensation of throat obstruction, a symptom that can be triggered by anxiety.

The virtues of magnolia absolute stem from the presence of active compounds originally found in the fresh leaves of this plant.
