Propriétés

Like Sage, Peppermint (Mentha piperita), is an herbaceous plant in the Lamiaceae family.
In 1753, at the beginning of the modern nomenclature, Linnaeus recognized Mentha piperita, a mint with a strong pungent flavor, as a species in its own right among 10 species of mint of the genus Mentha.
Naturalists have long accepted its status as a naturally growing species in wetlands, before realizing that it originated from a hybridization of aquatic mint and spearmint.
Considered a digestive and aromatic medicinal plant, it was admitted to the London Pharmacopoeia under the name of "Mentha piperitis sapore" in 1721.
French apothecaries considered it good for the stomach and called it «English mint» because it came from England where it grew "naturally".
Peppermint hydrosol adds a mentholated aroma to all types of culinary preparations.
In well-being it is known for its soothing properties both for moments of emotional irritation and for stimulating effect for the mind it awakens and sustains in periods requiring greater concentration.
