This mandarin hydrosol from Madagascar is obtained from the steam distillation of the bark of the fruits of the tree (the zest).

Properties

It is commonly used in cosmetic products for sensitive, oily or problem skin (acne, couperose, eczema), for its antiseptic and soothing properties.

It restores radiance to dull skin.

On the emotional level, it is a sedative and an anxyolite renowned against depression, insomnia, stress due to emotional shocks.

It soothes restless babies and children who have difficulty falling asleep, but also animals (before a visit to the vet, for example).

It promotes reconciliation with oneself and with others; it comforts sensitive and fragile people in times of crisis.

More information

Shrub from 3 to 6 meters in height, native to Asia (China and Japan), whose culture only appeared in Europe from the 19th century.

The leaves are oval, lanceolate, dark green in color. The white and very fragrant flowers appear in spring.

The fruits measure 4 to 8 cm in diameter, their production is abundant and very fragrant, but they are rich in seeds, and the less fragrant clementine is often preferred.

         Citrus deliciosa has small flattened orange-yellow fruits, very fragrant.

         Citrus reticulata has more or less dark orange fruits.

The American variety (tangerine Citrus x tangerina, derived from Citrus aurantium and Citrus reticulata) is composed of 90% limonene.

According to several studies, the fragrance of Citrus would restore immunity after immunosuppression induced by stress and allow a reduction in the dosage of antidepressants. (PMID 8646568)
