(text from the September 2021 newsletter, written by Michèle Larocque)
The macadamia nut, or Queensland nut, is a tropical tree from the state of Queensland (northeast of Australia). Before being described by two English botanists in 1858, macadamia nuts had been well known for at least 5,000 years by the Aboriginal peoples who consumed them for their high lipid content.
Macadamia nuts are rich in protein and fatty acids. They contain a mono-unsaturated fatty acid which has the particularity of promoting the regeneration of cells.
Restructuring, nourishing, protective and softening, macadamia oil is used to prepare skin care products targeting fragile and dry skin or in the preventive care of stretch marks. A dry and fluid oil, it penetrates without leaving a greasy film, making it an ideal ingredient for massage oil blends.
