Despite the fact that Ajowan (or ajwain) is an Apiaceae (or Umbelliferae) its high concentration of thymol makes it a widely used bactericide in India, where it has been used as an intestinal antiseptic for millennia.

Pure or very diluted in vegetable oil for use wth children, it is applied to the abdomen against colic, or even muscles in case of pain and localized inflammation.

Origin of this essential oil

This Ajowan organic essential oil from India is steam distilled from the seeds of the plant.
