It's no wonder the King of the Forests is in the spotlight this holiday season.

Indeed, the aromatic essence it gives off is an excellent atmospheric antiseptic that is very useful during these family gatherings.

In microdiffusion, it purifies and flavors the air, and thus protects against infections.

In massage, it thins the secretions of the respiratory tract, thus promoting their evacuation.

It is indicated in cases of colds, sinusitis or bronchitis, as well as to combat muscle pain.

Just massage the chest, back, shoulders, arms or legs with a good vegetable oil in which you have diluted about 20% of this essential oil.

A green, graceful tree to 20 m tall, with many branches giving the tree an overall shape of a perfect cone.

It forms oleoresin plaques, the "balsam", on the trunk and branches, produced from special vesicles under the bark.

The tree does not produce a "true" balm since it does not contain benzoic or cannamic acid in its esters; it is really an oleoresin, which is a mixture of resin and essential oil.

Balsam fir oil is an excellent atmospheric antiseptic, particularly useful in family reunions.

When it has been nebulized, it purifies and perfumes the atmosphere, which facilitates protection against infections.

It is antitussive, anti-toxic and mental stimulant.

Oleoresins were widely used by Native Americans for ritual purposes and as an external treatment for buttocks, wounds, cuts to relieve chest and chest pain.

A chest, back and shoulder massage with a mixture of 20% of this oil diluted in a good organic vegetable oil is recommended for chills, sinusitis and bronchitis and to help relieve muscle pain.

When massaged, this oil makes the secretions more fluid, which helps to reduce mucus.

Recommended for cold snaps, sinusitis and bronchitis, asthma, catarrh, chronic coughs, sore throat. it also helps relieve muscle pain, burns, cuts, wounds.

It is also useful in case of cystitis, or genito-urinary problems.

It has an action on the nervous system in case of depression, nervous tension, conditions related to stress.

The oil extracted from oleoresin is used in creams as an antiseptic and treatment of hemorrhoids.

Used in dentistry as an ingredient in root canal sealants.

Also used as a fragrance fixing component in soaps, detergents, cosmetics and perfumes. There is low use in food products, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.

Finally, oleoresin is used as a support in microscopy and optics.

It is generally non-toxic, non-irritating, non-sensitizing, but in high doses it is purgatory and can cause nausea.

Words by Anny Schneider

In the Nordic countries, the fir tree is the symbol of renewal and hope in the heart of winter, where it stands in all living rooms, at the winter solstice, to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness.

Our Balsam Fir essential oil is unique, and typical of Quebec and Southeastern Canada.

This essential oil, yet very affordable, has expectorant, mucolytic and immune tonic effects.

On a subtle level, it helps raise our spirit to the top of the pyramid of our being and sharpen awareness of self and the world.

The essential oil obtained from the bark has a more balsamic and tannic scent due to the different constituents of the bark.

It has more specifically dermatological antiseptic virtues and helps to strengthen and better protect our outer envelope.
