More information

Grapefruit terpene, also known as D-Limonene, is a slightly viscous liquid with a neutral to light yellow color and a characteristic odor and taste.

Grapefruit Terpene is naturally produced by distillation from citrus fruits.

It is a biodegradable natural solvent, an ideal thinner for tung oil, to aid its penetration into porous surfaces.

It can be used as a paint stripper when applied to painted wood.

Similar to other terpenes, limonene is commonly used in beauty products, cleansers, food flavors, medicines, and perfumes.

In pharmaceutical products, limonene is added to help ointments and medicinal creams penetrate the skin.

In manufacturing, limonene is used as a fragrance, cleaner (solvent), and as an ingredient in household cleaning products, cosmetics, and personal hygiene products.

Grapefruit terpenes are considered food-grade and find use in various household, institutional, and industrial cleaning products as well as flavor and fragrance additives.

Terpenes are highly aromatic molecules produced by thousands of plants in nature, usually as a defense mechanism against predators and parasites.

It emits a citrus-like fragrance.

According to the literature, in terms of medicinal efficacy, this major (primary) terpene would act as an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory (beneficial for people suffering from arthritis and fibromyalgia).
