Cautions and warnings:
Do not use pure essential oils. Essential oils are diluted in a vegetable oil when applied to the skin. Carry out a skin tolerance test in the crook of your elbow and wait 48 hours before using the oil on the skin. Do not use the essential oil if you notice a reaction such as redness, itching or stinging.
Keep out of reach of children.
If accidental ingestion occurs, seek urgent medical attention or contact a Poison Control Center.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the eye contour area, neither into the ears. In case of contact, apply a plenty of vegetable oil and take promptly medical advice.
If symptoms persist or worsen when using essential oil, consult a health care practitioner.
If you have epilepsy or asthma, consult a health care practitioner prior to use.
Avoid exposure of applied area(s) to the sun.

With its inflorescence of corymbs in off-white flower heads, the Yarrow is an umbrella of protection against various infections.

Traditionally used against epidemic fevers , its infusion once saved thousands of children from otherwise fatal flu.

Its blue essential oil, because rich in azulene, camphor and monoterpenes, explains its antiseptic and regenerating benefits .

It is nevertheless to be avoided in case of pregnancy, epilepsy and in young children .

Origin of this essential oil

This essential oil of yarrow from Slovenia is distilled from the flowers of the plant.

Properties

This precious essential oil from Slovenia is a deep blue colour.

Also used for it's calming properties in cosmetics to soothe and regenerate the skin (anti-aging, indicated for acne and irritated, inflammed skin)

At 8% chamazulene, it is prized for it's potency.

Cautions

Keep away from children, air, heat and light.

Beware of ketones, do not use internally.

Avoid in pregnancy, epilepsy and young children.

  • Pharmacodynamic interactions:
    • Monitoring in case of co-administration of hormonal drugs in women (apigenin may interfere with estrogen metabolism)
  • The essential oil is neurotoxic and abortifacient in high doses.
     

Main components of essential oil:

  • Monoterpenes: sabinene 10 to 15%, beta-pinene 10%, gamma-terpinene 5%, alpha-pinene, limonene, para-cymene, myrcene
  • Main sesquiterpenes: beta-caryophyllene 15%, germacrene-D 5% (up to 65%), alpha-humulene, trans-beta-farnesene, alpha-farnesene
  • Azulenes (0.2 to 1%) of blue color, synthesized by tetraploid plants (according to spp): guaiazulene 0.4%, chamazulene traces, alpha-bisabolol
  • Monoterpenols: terpinene-4-ol 3%, borneol, alpha-terpineol, linalool
  • Ketones: camphor 7%, thujone 8%, piperitone, isoartemisiacetone
  • Monoterpene oxides: 1,8-cineole 6%
  • Peroxides: ascaridol (traces)
