Do not use pure essential oils. Essential oils are diluted in a vegetable oil when applied to the skin. Carry out a skin tolerance test in the crook of your elbow and wait 48 hours before using the oil on the skin. Do not use the essential oil if you notice a reaction such as redness, itching or stinging.
Keep out of reach of children.
If accidental ingestion occurs, seek urgent medical attention or contact a Poison Control Center.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the eye contour area, neither into the ears. In case of contact, apply a plenty of vegetable oil and take promptly medical advice.
If symptoms persist or worsen when using essential oil, consult a health care practitioner.
If you have epilepsy or asthma, consult a health care practitioner prior to use.
Avoid exposure of applied area(s) to the sun.

St Thomas Bay essential oil is known to slow hair loss, promote hair growth and limit dandruff.

It blends well into hair masks, (incorporated in a vegetable oil) or into shampoo or conditioner.

Analgesic and anti-inflammatory, it is a very warming oil, used diluted in a vegetable oil before applying it to the affected areas.

It is also called "West Indian bay tree" or "Bay Rum Tree".

Origin of this essential oil

Bay St. Thomas' essential oil is obtained by fruit and tweegs distillation issued of organicly cultivated plants in Nepal.

St Thomas wood is also called "St Thomas wood", "Indian wood", "allspice", "all-spice", "four-spice", "Saint-Thomas bay" or "bay -rum" is a plant of the Myrtaceae family (such as Eucalyptus, Myrtles, Guava, Clove, Melaleucas, Manukas, Feijoas and about 100 other species).

It is a tree about 20 m high which produces fragrant flowers and leaves.

 

It is cultivated in all the tropics but is native to the Caribbean.

 

St Thomas wood has a very important place in the American pharmacopoeia.

 

Its leaves, leathery and fragrant, distilled in rum, give "Bay Rum", a tonic lotion used as a friction for rheumatism, colds and in local massage by athletes.

"Bay Rum" was originally made in Saint Thomas (United States Virgin Islands).
 

Main components of essential oil

  • Three chemotypes are described:
    • With eugenol 55% and methyl-eugenol 2%, myrcene 20%, chavicol 10 to 20%, limonene, trans-beta-ocimene, linalool 2%, terpinen-4-ol, alpha-terpineol, alpha-phellandrene, alpha-pinene , terpinolene, beta-caryophyllene 0.5%, delta-cadinene
    • With methyl-eugenol (43%), methyl-chavicol (32%)
    • With citral (more than 80%)
